About Swedish Massages
Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is the most common and best known type of massage. Its main focus is relaxation, but it can also be beneficial in relieving tension and increasing circulation.

A Swedish Massage involves soft, long kneading strokes that combines several techniques including:

  • Effleurage - a smooth, gliding stroke used to relax soft tissue

  • Petrissage - the squeezing, rolling or kneading used after effleurage

  • Friction - deep circular movements that cause layers to rub against each other to help increase blood flow and break down scar tissue

  • Tapotement- a short, alternating tap done with cupped hands, fingers, or edge of the hand

  • Vibration - a fine, gentle trembling/shaking movement of the tissues performed using the hand or fingers

About Deep Tissue Massages

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is similar to Swedish Massage but uses slow, firm strokes and focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue and fascia.

Muscles easily become tense from sitting in front of a computer for long periods of time, exercise and injuries, so this type of massage can help relieve pain, stress and improve range of motion for many people.

The addition of hot stones increases effectiveness as they warm the tissue for deeper work and doTERRA's™ Deep Blue rub is excellent for particularly sore muscles.

About Trigger Point Massages
Trigger Point Therapy

This type of massage is used in conjunction with a Deep Tissue Massage.

Trigger points are sore spots in the muscle that refer pain to another part of the body, usually caused by muscular overload.  For example, a trigger point in the back may refer pain to your neck caused by over-exertion or repetitive stress.

The results and benefits of Trigger Point Therapy is releasing constricted areas in the muscles and therefore relieving pain.
